Kev O’Donnell

Trustee

Kev O’Donnell has been a mentor since 2014 and was closely involved in the creation of the mentoring service. He joined the Board in 2016 and took several active roles during the formative years of the service. As the staff team has grown, he has been able to take a step back from operational work and now focuses upon Fundraising activities.

Kev explains his PROMISEworks journey below:

“I took early retirement in 2013 after a general management career within aerospace.  Too old for football, too young for bowls and with a phobia for gardening, I turned to the voluntary sector for inspiration.

I trained as a PROMISE mentor in 2014. Over my ten years in a mentoring role, I have met some wonderful young people.  Also, it has been extremely fulfilling to discover that many of the skills I gained in industry have been useful in the development of our growing charity.  Working as part of the small team that has built the PROMISEworks’ mentoring service has been the most fulfilling period of my working life. We are all very proud of the progress that has been made since 2017 and excited by our prospects for the future.

When not volunteering, I am usually to be found following the fortunes of the Wolves or listening to Northern Soul music.  As they say, you can take the lad out of Wolverhampton….”
