Case Holder

Paul started his career as a police officer for the City of London police, then transferred to Gloucestershire constabulary before commencing a new career in social work. During his time as a social worker for Children's Services, he worked in residential care and residential management, field social work including education, child protection and youth justice. In 2003 he moved to the education department as a manager in the alternative provision services.

Throughout his career Paul has always worked with those most vulnerable and at risk. He believes that sound, healthy relationships are the key to making a positive impact on those in need. Through personal experience and observing others when a child or young person engages, they can then start to look at life in a more positive and productive manner.

Paul first volunteered as a PROMISE mentor fifteen years ago, which at that time was managed by the local authority. It was during his retirement years that he applied to become a case holder for the charity PROMISEworks and has been working for the charity for the past two and a half years.

The steering group behind the charity has demonstrated much commitment and dedication to developing the services for children and young people in Somerset. This has created an environment into which anyone would be proud to work or volunteer.
