Partnering with PROMISEworks

Partnering with PROMISEworks

PROMISEworks – Offering businesses of all sizes the opportunity to support a local charity.

Corporate partnership ideas

Corporate Partnership with PROMISEworks can take many forms, but there are three ways that would be of most help. These fall under the banner “The Three Ms” – Mentoring, Money & Mentions

Mentoring

We are encouraging businesses to talk to us about the benefits of volunteer mentoring and then engage with their staff in promoting the idea of training as a mentor. The four-day intensive training programme is very revealing, challenging and interesting in itself. Once qualified and matched to a mentee, staff members can gain an enormous amount in terms of giving back to the community and improving their own self-worth as they see the benefits of their mentoring on the progress of their mentee.

Two days of the four-day training programme, spread over four weeks, take place during normal working hours and it is helpful if the business does not require this to be taken from annual leave allowance.

Of course, many staff members are young and with children and cannot commit to the time involved, but some may have grown-up children and moving towards the end of their working lives. This cohort may appreciate the opportunity to be involved in a charity which is unique in Somerset.

Money

Clearly companies can donate as a one off, or as a commitment over a number of years (every donation, small or large is welcome!), but it might make sense to finance staff members who have qualified as a mentor. This commitment would be £4,000 per mentor spread over two years. Please note that the “promise” in PROMISEworks is that a mentor will remain with a mentee for at least two years. In addition, staff might be encouraged to look at other charitable opportunities such as supporting the adoption of PROMISEworks as the firm’s “Charity of the Year” or listing PROMISEworks for payroll giving.

Mentions

Word of mouth recommendations are very valuable to us. Most Somerset Businesses will have extensive connections in the County. Using your business and personal networks to encourage other organisations to engage with PROMISEworks is far more productive than cold calling.

Become a Somerset Friend of PROMISEworks

Are you a small business owner who would like to become our Somerset Friend? Could a percentage from each hair treatment, pedicure, hedge trim, car service or tattoo provide a donation to help us support the vulnerable young people we work with? Such donations, however small, build up and could help considerably as we strive to expand the PROMISEworks mentoring programme across Somerset. If you would like to read more about this kind of sponsorship model to donate a small amount from each ‘something’ that you do, then click the button below to read Redleif Care’s Case Study and how they were able to help us by becoming our Somerset Friend.

Or perhaps you have a reception area? Do you put together information packs for your customers? Could you help to promote our search for mentors by stocking and distributing our PROMISEworks leaflets?

If you can help in any of these ways or have other good ideas on how your business or organisation can partner with PROMISEworks, we’d love to hear from you! Please get in touch via [email protected]

Charity of the Year Opportunities

Is it tradition within your organisation to support a charity each year? Would you like to make it a tradition?

Dress down days, cake sales, fun fines, online auctions, buzzword bingo. Whether you are currently in an office together or working remotely our fundraising team would love to talk to you about the type of events you could run that help your staff team to stay connected and help to raise money for PROMISEworks at the same time.

Perhaps you would like to set a goal of supporting one mentor/mentee relationship for a year or fundraise to support a group activity day for some of our young people, the options are only as limited as your imaginations.

In return we will publish your company name and logo and a short piece on your organisation on our website and promotional literature.
